Not many bands were able to seize the spirit of the Cold War in post-punk like Fischer-Z did. This British band was formed by the charismatic John Watts. With their first three epic albums (Word Salad, Going Deaf For A Living and Red Skies Over Paradise) they were able to charm the alternative music fan as well as the hit parade followers. Even today, classics such as So Long or Marliese are still irresistible and represent strongly some of the best 80’s guitar wave. Although Watts is aware that the sound of that era plays a crucial role for his fans, he invariably refuses to look backwards. This all results in excellent new records by Fischer-Z which are at least as strong as those of the early days. Last year the band released Building Bridges which was hailed by the press and led Fischer-Z to completely sold out venues throughout Belgium.
